ICCDPP : 7th International symposium on career development and public policy – Building the talent pipeline and providing youth with hope for the future
Since 1999, ICCDPP symposia have served as catalysts for national level initiatives and policy actions. Initiatives created from the symposia have enabled countries to benchmark their policy development and practices against those in other countries, have helped establish national career development organizations, and have been used by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), European Commission (EC) and its agencies the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP), and the World Bank.
The theme of the 2015 symposium: Building the Talent Pipeline and Providing Youth with Hope for the Future, focuses on the challenges facing governments, employers, and communities to ensure young people have economically viable futures.
Four subthemes will be examined in detail:
- Engaging Employers
- The Role of Emerging Technologies
- Why Return on Investment (ROI) Matters
- Integrated Policies: Creating Systems That Work
The symposium will also work to accomplish these specific goals:
- To engage emerging nations in deeper discussions regarding the role of career guidance in the education and employment sectors and its impact on economic development.
- To facilitate conversations, awareness, and support for youth workforce development initiatives.
The accompanying article, “The International Symposia On Career Development And Public Policy: Retrospective And Prospect,”gives rich insight into the history and impact of the symposia to date. (http://derby.openrepository.com/derby/bitstream/10545/323889/1/watts_article_australian.pdf).
